JORDAN CURTIS

Council Member

Council Member Jordan Curtis was elected to a four-year term on the Athens City Council in November 2020. Jordan Curtis is a native of McMinn County and has been a resident of the City of Athens since 2008. He is a graduate of McMinn County High School and the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Jordan’s parents are Jack and Peggy Curtis and he grew up in the now three generation family business Curtis Auto Parts and Sales.

His wife Amanda is a graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan University and works as a registered nurse with Athens City Schools. Their daughter Maddie attended Athens City Schools from kindergarten through eighth grade and is currently a student at McMinn County High School. The Curtises are members of Keith Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoy volunteering with the youth ministry.

Professionally, Jordan is the leader of the local wealth management office for Simmons Bank and holds the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA) designation. He currently serves on the boards of the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of McMinn and Meigs Counties, Helping Hands Ministry, CASA Corridor of East Tennessee, AMMP, and the Athens Kiwanis Club. Jordan is currently serving his second and final year as United Way Campaign Co-Chair. He previously served as Vice Chair of the McMinn County Library Board and chaired the McMinn County Economic Development Authority’s Housing Task Force. Prior to his election to the Athens City Council, Jordan was Secretary of the Athens Regional Planning Commission and a member of the Athens City Council Advisory Committee. Currently, Council Member Curtis serves on the Historic Preservation Commission and the McMinn County Economic Development Authority Board of Directors.

Jordan was a 2014 DPA “20 under 40” award recipient, a 2016 graduate of Leadership McMinn, 2018 AMMP Young Professional of the Year, and was named 2019 Athens Young Man of the Year. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, cheering on the Vols, and going for walks with Rosey his Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
